SEVENTIETH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY COMES UP THIS MAY.

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by all WHO Member States and focuses on a health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. 

The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of WHO, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The World Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.The seventieth meeting  comes up between 22 and 23 May in Geneva, Switzerland.

During this year's World Health Assembly, WHO in collaboration with UN Foundation will produce three Facebook live shows. These shows will feature public health experts who will take questions from the audience on Facebook. The shows will be on broadcast on WHO’s FB channel on the following dates and times. Show schedule and themes:
  • May 23, Tuesday at 15:30 CET: 10 years of public health progress – how it was done and lessons learned for the future.
  • May 25, Thursday at 16:00 CET: Health as a human right, Women and Children’s health, and vector control strategy
  • May 26, Friday at 16:00 CET: Threats to human health: Conflicts and disease outbreak, changing climate and health, antimicrobial resistance and noncommunicable diseases. The venue is Palais des Nations, La Salle des pas perdus.
