ART X IS BACK WITH DYNAMIC PROJECTS

Launched in 2016, ART X Lagos is West Africa’s first international art fair, which was designed to showcase the best and most innovative contemporary art from the African continent and diaspora, and to widen Nigeria’s connection to the art scene across Africa and internationally.

Through its contribution to the increased visibility of African artists, ART X Lagos aims to reinforce the visual arts as an important component of the creative industry in Nigeria and Africa, and to position Lagos as an emergent cultural capital on the continent.

The debut edition of ART X Lagos welcomed 5,000 visitors to The Civic Centre, to see the works of over 65 artists drawn from 10 countries around Africa. The fair featured specially curated projects, as well as a series of interactive audience engagement projects, and a vibrant live performance platform for artists and musicians. The 2016 fair also included a robust and lively talks program with over 30 local and international speakers.

The 2017 edition of ART X Lagos will deliver a broader, dynamic program of exhibitions, talks and interactive projects. OBAGOAL DONATES HEALTH EQUIPTMENT TO LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT.

Lagos born ,Nigeria Football international, Obafemi Martins days ago donated health equipment worth several millions of naira to the Lagos State Government, saying it was part of his philanthropic gestures to give back to the society.
Among the equipment donated by Martins, through his foundation, Obafemi Martins Foundation (OMF), include 200 Wheel Chairs, 3,240 Crutches, 100 Baby Courts, 60 Hospital Beds, 13 Electric Wheel Chairs and 3200 Blind Sticks.

The equipment were presented  to  Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode at a short ceremony held at Lagos House in Ikeja, Obafemi Martins, popularly known as Obagoal currently plies his trade with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua F.C in China, In his words  the mission of his Foundation is to assist members of the community who are in need as a result of being handicapped., he also 
announced that the Foundation is currently prepared to donate a lot of wheel chairs, electronic wheel chairs, clutches and other equipment." I am confident that this contribution will impact lives in our communities. Through service to our community, we can all make a difference,” .

He, however, said that the Foundation would not only stop at the donation, adding that there would be more interventions in the nearest future.
 Governor Ambode commended Martins for the gesture, saying that it was not only a worthy and noble act of selfless service, but a clear demonstration of his commitment to Nigeria and most especially Lagos State.

“We are all delighted to welcome Obafemi Martins back home. As you are aware, he is a true born Lagosian and through his Foundation, he has deemed it necessary to extend selfless service back to his community.

“We are, on behalf of Lagosians, saying a big thank you to you. Apart from the fact that you have become an excellent ambassador for Lagos, you’ve done extremely very well in your chosen career. You’ve also deemed it fit that it’s time to pay back to humanity. Apart from the fact that these are things that we would use in our hospitals, there are also things that we are going to use for people living with disabilities.

HARVEST PLUS TO HOST THE MEDIA AT A BREAKFAST MEETING.




HarvestPlus is partnering with the Enugu State SME center to host the third edition of its annual Nutritious Food Fair (NFF). This event is scheduled to take place at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu on 28—30 November 2017.


NFF 2017 will among other objectives facilitate at least 3000 jobs in the nutritious food sector, empowering participants to transition into employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the fast growing biofortified value chain in Nigeria.

It is free and open to all categories and groups of people interested in starting up or growing a sustainable agribusiness enterprise using nutritious and vitamin A enriched crops.

According to Adaobi Okezie-Odoemene, Knowledge and Communication Officer, HarvestPlus Nigeria and Nollywood partners like popular film maker Fidelis Duker and talented actor  Segun Arinze,will make the official announcement during the breakfast with harvestplus on monday, 6 November, 2017 from 10:000 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.at  Protea Hotel,,Ikeja Lagos
Harvest Plus improves nutrition and public health by developing and promoting biofortified food crops that are rich in vitamins and minerals, and providing global leadership on biofortification evidence and technology. HarvestPlus is part of the CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH). CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by its 15 research centers in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations. The HarvestPlus program is coordinated by two of these centers, the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
