IN LAGOS SIX BUYERS AND 4 SELLERS ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL STREET TRADING.

In other to eradicate  street trading in the centre of excellence , Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps Agency, LASECORPS, on Tuesday arrested six motorists, four passengers and nine hawkers during a recent operation carried out along the popular  Agege Motor Road.
The offenders they were arrested for patronizing highway hawkers while their vehicles were also impounded.
According to , CSP Jimoh Amusat Bola (rtd)  the Corps Marshal , LASECORPS would henceforth arrest buyers, sellers and motorists for illegal street trading, adding that the Agency was poised to stop ‘illegal street trading’ in the State.
The arrested offenders were subsequently arraigned at the Samuel Ilori Court in Ogba,
In a judgement delivered by Magistrate Olayiwola Ogundare, the hawkers and their customers were sentenced to three months jail with an option of N10,000 fine with each of the motorists paying additional N20,000 to the State.

The Governor Ambode led government had embarked on continuous sensitization of citizens on the dangers inherent in illegal hawking and street-trading, as well as a violation of the environmental laws of the State.
