FOR THE 4TH TIME, POPULAR KENYAN POLITICIAN TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT.

For the fourth time popular Kenyan Politician , Raila Amolo Odinga,will be running for president, the former  Prime Minister of  from 2008 to 2013.and the leader of  Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), was  picked on Thursday by the leadership of  the National Super Alliance (NASA)  to be its flag bearer at the next  presidential elections slated for August 8. Raila popularly known  to his supporters as Agwambo, Tinga, Baba, RAO, and Jakom was declared the presidential candidate  with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka a  former Vice-President as his running mate at a well attended rally held in Uhuru Park, Nairobi the nation's capital. 

Mr Odinga will represent the National Super Alliance (Nasa), which is a coalition of the country's main opposition parties including the candidate's Orange Democratic Movement.

The presidential candidate  was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Langata in 1992, serving as Minister of Energy from 2001 to 2002 and as Minister of Roads, Public Works, and Housing from 2003 to 2005. He was the main opposition candidate in the 2007 presidential election  running against incumbent Mwai Kibaki. Following a violence-marred election and post- poll crisis , he was later  appointed Prime Minister in April 2008 in a power-sharing deal with Mwai Kibaki, serving as Supervisor and Coordinator of a national unity coalition government.

In an era of unrelenting human rights abuse by the government, Raila was placed under house arrest for seven months after evidence seemed to implicate him along with his late father Oginga Oginga for collaborating with the plotters of a failed coup attempt against President Danaiel Arap Moi in 1982.Hundreds of Kenyans and thousands of rebel soldiers died. Several foreigners also lost their lives. Raila was later charged with treason and detained without trial for six years.

 Baptized as Legio maria in his youth,Odinga later became a born again christian  through an Evangelical church in Nairobi. He is married to Ida Odinga (nee Anyango Oyoo). They live in Karen, Nairobi . This is will be his fourth attempt at the presidency the father of  The couple have four children.
