FAITHIA BALOGUN MEETS ALIBABA AT THE CHECKPOINT.

Tomorrow. Nigeria comedy King, Ali Baba will lead other top comedians including Nollywood stars, and broadcasters, in a live perfomance  on stage in a satirical play titled Checkpoint on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Shell Hall Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

The show, the second in the series, will also feature Nollywood actress, Fathia Balogun, on-air personality with Wazobia FM Tuebi Abide (aka Tuale), Ogbolor, Omotunde Adebowale-David (aka Lolo1), Big Timi among others on stage. Written by Tuale, and directed by Ife Salako (aka Ifetive), Checkpoint highlights the hazardous experiences of policemen on a daily basis, in a comedy manners.Some of the areas Checkpoint will focus in the up-coming show include the judiciary, National Assembly, religion, politics, and parenting. “This edition will be bigger than last year, we have lots of things to talk about.We did more of social vices in the last edition. We are going deep and hitting hard in the show,” Tuale said. The theme for the last edition of Checkpoint was until every individual gets to that point when we all check ourselves by ourselves that is the only time we will have true change.

“That is what we are still preaching; that is what the president is also saying, change our attitude,” Tuale said. He posited that “the bureaucracy in government should stop; these boils down to our individual self, not only the government, the government is made up of people not structure, nor politics, the politics are created by human, the structures are built by human so let’s change the human first.

If we change the human, our system will change because it is the human that created the system we are running today. It is better for us to work on the human that is what Checkpoint is about. But when people hear Checkpoint they assume it is another comedy show that ruin the image of Nigerian Police.“The reason why we take it from the angle of the police is because police is the body that creates check and balance in our society, when you talk about security, the police is mention, and the likes. That is why we are talking about checking the society through the eyes of the Nigerian police.”
