The show, the second in the series,
will also feature Nollywood actress, Fathia Balogun, on-air personality with
Wazobia FM Tuebi Abide (aka Tuale), Ogbolor, Omotunde Adebowale-David (aka
Lolo1), Big Timi among others on stage. Written by Tuale, and directed by Ife
Salako (aka Ifetive), Checkpoint highlights the hazardous experiences of
policemen on a daily basis, in a comedy manners. Some of the areas Checkpoint will
focus in the up-coming show include the judiciary, National Assembly, religion,
politics, and parenting. “This edition will be bigger than last year, we have
lots of things to talk about. We did more of social vices in the
last edition. We are going deep and hitting hard in the show,” Tuale said. The
theme for the last edition of Checkpoint was until every individual gets to
that point when we all check ourselves by ourselves that is the only time we
will have true change.
“That is what we are still
preaching; that is what the president is also saying, change our attitude,”
Tuale said. He posited that “the bureaucracy in government should stop; these
boils down to our individual self, not only the government, the government is
made up of people not structure, nor politics, the politics are created by
human, the structures are built by human so let’s change the human first.
If we change the human, our system
will change because it is the human that created the system we are running
today. It is better for us to work on the human that is what Checkpoint is
about. But when people hear Checkpoint they assume it is another comedy show
that ruin the image of Nigerian Police.“The reason why we take it from the
angle of the police is because police is the body that creates check and
balance in our society, when you talk about security, the police is mention,
and the likes. That is why we are talking about checking the society through
the eyes of the Nigerian police.”
